How To ACE Your Exams In Medical School
In this article, I'm going to explain how anyone can ACE their exams in Medical School
Learning the effective methods that top students implement in their studies will help you to learn the material effectively and get your desired grades
Unfortunately, not all medical students are aware of these methods
That's because they don't teach these methods in schools
Here is why:
Professors assume students already possess such skills, having picked them up in middle/high school
It's not the primary Curriculum Focus
Students have diverse learning styles, and a one-size-fits-all approach to teaching study techniques may not be effective.
But the methods that I'm going to teach you work very well on the majority of medical students cause I've seen them work on myself, my peers, and dozens of medical students I met throughout the years
Here's how step by step:
Solving questions
It is the most effective way of Active Learning that will make you ACE your exams.
You can ask your seniors about the course you are taking and ask what practice questions they solved when they took the course. Look for past exam questions. Don't hesitate to ask your peers; They might have them.
Additionally, don't be afraid to ask the instructor how the exam questions will be.
Using the right resources.
This one is crucial; getting distracted by a lot of resources is easy
Make sure you are studying from the exact materials that your course exam questions gonna be; this is essential for not wasting time and energy on stuff that does not matter
if your course instructor shares the presentation of the lecture that means you don't have to waste time on big textbooks or 1 hour long YouTube videos
focus on what actually matters
Putting time into your studies
If you are implementing the first two steps, all you need now is to put enough time into your studies
You need to start Time Blocking for your studies, and you can do that on pen and paper or the Google calendar app, whichever works for you
make sure your phone is away from your sight while you are studying, cut off any other distractions, and get deeply focused on what you are studying.
Then, see the results.
