How Living By Myself In My Early Twenties Changed My Life
This article is about the pros & cons of living by yourself in your early 20s
This piece is for anyone who is in their early 20s and not sure about moving out of their parent's house and start live on their own
By the time you finish reading this piece, you will know whether moving out is for you or not.
I have been living by myself for almost 5 years now.
I moved out of my parents' home 6 years ago, and for 1 year, I lived with my close friends from high school in a flat in Ankara. In 2019, I moved to Istanbul to get my degree in medicine.
In my first year in Istanbul, I lived in a dorm, and in 2020, I moved to a flat to live by myself,
So I've tried them all.
So here are 3 ways that living by myself changed everything :
It skyrocketed my productivity.
There is absolutely no distraction, and you are on your own.
Pour some coffee, sit down, read, study, work, and do whatever you want to do.
It is the perfect opportunity to focus on anything you want
I never felt as much freedom in my life.
You are entirely on your own rules; take it from whenever you want to sleep to however you want to design your home. It's your place.
Isn't that wild!
It made me miss my family and the good old days together.
In 2 months, I will be 24, which is my mid-twenties, and one thing I can tell you from living alone, the part that sucks the most is that you will keep missing the old days,
The good times you've spent with your family, you will miss your childhood you will miss your teenage years, your high school friends, the great times when everyone was laughing and making jokes after dinner,
And heck, you will even miss the arguments with your parents and siblings over asinine bullshit. You are going to miss all of it.
• Living by yourself has pros and cons, just like everything else
• I didn't want to write about the obvious stuff like you have to do the chores, cooking .... bla bla bla
you already know that :)
